DESCRIPTION:

Perform hardware-level integration and test of next-generation core optical switch. Develop system test strategies, test plans and execute testing of new optical product. Review product requirements, architecture and designs and provide feedback to development teams. Requires prior test experience, excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• BSEE or equivalent experience
• 4+ years related experience or equivalent experience and education
• Previous hardware design experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop system test strategies, test plans and execute testing.
• First level integration of new system, including power subsystem, fans, processor modules, switch modules, and line modules.
• Debug any issues and report to appropriate hardware primes.
• Review product requirements, architecture, and designs and provide feedback to development teams.
• Evaluate and provide input on test equipment.
• Develop and/or improve processes.

SKILLS:

• Testing or Development of SONET and SDH features for core telecom products.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, SONET test equipment.
• Knowledge and experience testing SONET jitter/wander.
• Prior experience developing test strategies, plans, execution of testing.
• Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
• Ability to improve test efficiency through innovation.
Must have demonstrated the ability to:
• develop and execute test plans, based on analysis of requirements and product architecture/design.
• evaluate and acquire equipment and tools.
• analyze and solve complex problems.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Ability to work with little supervision
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
