Job Description:
DESCRIPTION:
Performs projects and project management activities with instructions as to the general results expected, receives technical guidance as needed on complex problems and development projects.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Technical Degree (BSCE, BSEE or MSCE, MSEE preferred)
10 + years related experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs projects and project management activities with instructions as to the general results expected, receives technical guidance as needed on complex problems and development projects in the following efforts:
Defining requirements for next generation switching platform. Knowledgeable in SONET/SDH, OTN, DWDM, and Layer 2/2.5 packet switching systems,
Defining system architecture including evaluation of enabling technologies, both hardware and software
Developing technical documentation in support of product development and release in the form of detailed testable system requirements,
Performing and assist in validation testing activities,
Planning and directing advanced, innovative technical projects
Assist in responding to customer RFI/RFP requests
Pursuing new technology for the company
Acting as role model and mentor to companys technical community
SKILLS:
Experience in a product definition and development role with solid skills in:
SONET/SDH systems, including Add/Drop Muxes and Broadband Digital Cross-Connects.
Knowledge should span:
Physical interface technologies
SONET/SDH Protection mechanisms
Switching and framing architectures
Control plane technologies (G.ASON/GMPLS)
Packet switching technologies, platforms and network architectures, especially for Ethernet, MPLS, ATM, Frame Relay technologies
Layer 2 and Layer 2.5 networking technologies and protocols (PBB, PBB-TE, MPLS, VPLS, RSVP, OSPF, LDP)
Network Convergence concepts and industry trends
Triple Play applications and supporting architectures
DESIRED SKILLS:

Documentation, technical writing and presentation skills,
