The City of Independence, Missouri (population 114,000) is seeking a Manager for the Neighborhood Services Division. The Neighborhood Services Division will be responsible for working with neighborhoods and businesses in implementing plans and incentive programs for revitalization, developing short range action plans, coordinating efforts of City departments and other agencies, targeting federal programs and developing new programs. Independence is a forward thinking community with professional and innovative management and staff. It has a rich cultural heritage including the President Harry S. Truman Neighborhood and Museum, the Historic Independence Square, the Santa Fe California and Oregon Trails, Mormon History, Civil War Battlefields, and strong traditional neighborhoods both historic and new. The City\'s Strategic Goals are 1) to revitalize and rebuild neighborhoods; 2) to achieve continuous growth in the local economy, continued vitality in existing business areas, and planned development in the eastern areas of the City; 3) to ensure long-term financial stability for the City; 4) to have a quality municipal organization employing highly trained professional staff. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor\'s Degree in Urban Planning, Business or Public Administration or related field. Master\'s Degree in Urban Planning or related field preferred.
