Affects the patient care and daily operations of assigned patient care area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Utilizes clinical expertise to monitor and correlate acuity and patient profiles to area staffing needs, assignments and budget. Plans and evaluates area compliance with institutional/regulatory policies and procedures. Formulates practical recommendations regarding daily operational procedures and practices. Provides management assistance through the assurance of appropriate staffing, performance improvement activities, compliance with budgetary guidelines and human resources processes. Ensures scheduling and assignment/reassignment of staff meet the needs of the patient. Participates in hiring and performance management of employees. Contributes to the strategic and financial planning of the area. Supports a high level of clinical competence and professional development for staff. Provides direct patient care approximately 50% of the time:Assumes role and responsibilities of the Associate Director/Nurse Manager in their absence.
