Currently, Chubb is seeking a Department of Financial Institutions Underwriter to join its Chicago, IL team.
This Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) Underwriter position will be a member of a Chicago based DFI team serving the Illinois and Chicago branches. The underwriter will be responsible for managing a $5 MM book of property and casualty business for the Illinois territory. Critical responsibilities include: risk selection, agency management, business development/planning, profitability, cost containment and prospecting. The underwriter will help achieve department goals of profit, rate and growth. The underwriter is also responsible for building relationships with producers, negotiating price, developing prospects, managing profitability, retention, and new business goals, as well as creating business plans for assigned territory. The candidate must be able to work effectively with a team of underwriters, customer service representatives, underwriting associates, and claims examiners.
Required Skills:
Underwriting experience in property and casualty is required, financial institutions experience is a plus. We also seek the following skills: Strong analytical and financial analysis skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency in sales, marketing and negotiation; Ability to work both independently and in a team environment; Proven track record of building strong business relationships with brokers and customers; Demonstrated leadership abilities.
