Job Description: This attorney position will require a commitment of 21 hours per week. The position shall be re-evaluated in approximately three months to determine whether it should be expanded into a full-time position. Factors considered in the evaluation process will include employee performance, agency staffing needs, and funding.
It is anticipated that the attorney will allocate the majority of their time to our teen dating violence project in collaboration with Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. The attorney will provide legal representation to victims of domestic violence and work in tandem with a LACY social worker to assess the need for supportive services. Specific aspects of the project include court representation, client interviews, case management, and attendance at program meetings. The attorney will also handle cases received by LACY through our Guardianship Project. This involves assisting minors to petition the court to name an alternate caregiver for the health and safety. This Project involves close coordination with the LACY social worker. The attorney may also accept court appointed guardianship cases or family law cases provided compliance with local rules is demonstrated.
This position will also require participation in LACY’s regular team meetings, staff meetings, and program development activities including assisting the LACY Directing Attorney and Supervision Attorney.
