The leader of this space will need to bring a transformational drive to the task, unify groups in disparate parts of the company and meld together a broad spectrum of technical and intellectual challenges. The central team will work closely with the IT delivery organization to operate key portions of the search activities, but will also need to coordinate with a distributed community of stakeholder data providers. Given the initial focus on search the areas that should be investigated in the future by this group could include but not be limited to optimization including simulation and nonlinear stochastic modeling, advanced portfolio analysis, option theory, predictive maintenance, lower cost process automation and workflow, social computing (collective intelligence), virtual worlds (for simulation, training, collaboration, ), artificial intelligence: pattern recognition, text mining, human-like behavior.
