The director is responsible for all supervisory, management, and budgetary functions of the department while also being involved in day-to-day planning work. The department is currently coordinating the preparation of a new comprehensive plan being undertaken by a consulting firm. Future projects to be undertaken by staff or consultants include a complete rewrite of the zoning and subdivision ordinances and preparation of corridor and neighborhood plans.
