Job Description: Job Summary
Work within advanced engineering groups regarding development of control strategy for advanced heavy-duty hybrid electric vehicles and standard vehicle dynamic control systems. Control work encompasses advanced strategies for hybrid electric component controls (motors, drives, engines, generators, energy storage cells, and other auxiliary equipment), automatic braking, and traction control as it relates to electric motor control strategies for on-road and off-road hybrid systems.
Major Areas of Accountability
„X Responsible for hybrid system or autonomous vehicle controls research, development, verification, production implementation, testing, and validation. „X Establish requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones) according to the needs of a project. „X General responsibility for control strategies/logic on the hybrid electric drive system (motors, drives, engines, generators, energy storage cells, material handling equipment & other auxiliary equipment). „X Responsible for developing control strategies in a virtual environment working with personnel, resources and modeling tools available from a modeling group (ADAMS, Matlab, Simulink, EASY 5 and others to be utilized). Must be able to easily transfer simulated strategies to vehicle testing and eventual production implementation. „X Working with and sometimes directing internal and external (industry consortiums, universities..) project teams on advanced control development efforts. „X Assist and direct feasibility studies and project estimates (man power, budget development, timelines..) on proposed projects. „X Supports and sometimes lead proposal development with regards to acquiring appropriate funding for various advanced control development efforts. „X Provide support and insight to engineering design teams as needed based on expertise. „X Work with research and development team to develop the appropriate control strategies for advanced active and reactive suspension systems. Education and Experience Basic Requirements: „X Degree in Engineering with a focus on controls for autonomous systems. „X 1 or more years of controls development experience in field related to job requirements. „X Mechanical Skills Assessment will be required to determine mechanical aptitude. Preferred Requirements:
„X Experience and schooling focused on controls work in automotive-based Electro/Mechanical propulsion related technology fields (i.e. hybrid electric drive systems, electric drive systems, advanced powertrain/drivetrain systems.
