Job Description:
Most projects are in the area of transit Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), which encompass the application of information and communication technologies to enhance operational efficiencies and traveler information. Duties include performing and/or project managing the planning, design, implementation, evaluation, operations and maintenance of the RTA's ITS technologies. Participates on state and local technical committees to ensure the coordination of ITS activities involving transit applications with other transportation entities. Prepares and presents analyses to the RTA and Service Board committees/staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1. Manages projects involving the assessment, selection and application of transportation technologies in the region. Assists in the determination of development strategies and evaluation criteria. 2. Applies project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet project requirements for quality, scope, time and cost. Tracks and reports project activities to the Manager of Engineering and Technology. 3. Applies systems engineering and transportation planning knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to identify and achieve the technical and user requirements of proposed technology initiatives. 4. Assists in the operations and maintenance of ITS hardware and software components such as servers, websites, databases, and electronic display devices.
