Job Description:
Are you looking for a fresh opportunity that uses the skills and knowledge you¿ve built in traditional Pricing or Reserving roles, but also gives you the chance to communicate this knowledge to audiences that are hungry to hear how it can influence their work? Join Travelers¿ Claim Analytics team to help unlock the value of the significant investments this leading Property Casualty Insurance provider has made in the Claim organization. The team needs individuals with the ability and drive to understand changes in the Claim process and the creativity to turn that understanding into an analytic solution. This solution will enable the individuals on the team to communicate that analysis and conclusion deep within the organization on both a macro and micro level. Not only is the opportunity positioned to provide access into the organization from a critical juncture of business and operations, but it also offers opportunity for advancement and expanded learning across multiple functions and disciplines. The following example describes Claim Analytics¿ significant contribution to the overall organization and highlights the type of analysis the Business Analytics role would focus on: The Claim Analytics team was asked to look at the impact of attorney involvement on a claim¿s severity. The Claim Analytics team predicted that reducing attorney involvement also reduced overall severity of a claim, so their first task was to support their hypothesis using both industry and internal claim data. When the CA team found that the data supported their assumption, they then made recommendations to Travelers senior management as to the most efficient ways to reduce attorney involvement per claim. One of those recommendations was to handle the toughest claims facetoface versus over the phone. The CA team communicated the expected financial impact of the increased facetoface claim handling to the senior management, who then made significant financial investments in a pilot program that tested the facetoface claims handling theory. As expected, there were significant savings, and this behavior became one of the Best Practices for all Claim handling. In effect, the Claim Analytics team deduced that a comprehensive review of processes, behaviors, metrics, and total payout, should be done as it would have a significant financial impact on the Traveler¿s organization as a whole. This example has been shared by Travelers¿ senior management to the public through earnings call and investor day presentations over the past 2 years. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ¿ Analysis of Claim information to provide insight to the business. This includes basic analysis around mix changes and identifying relationships between variables which may require more indepth analysis.
