Job Description:
This position requires the ability to function as a construction support field Engineer (primarialy mechanical) for projects engineered through Project Engineering for the Fossil, CT & Hydro Generating Plants. Base reporting point will initially be the Eastlake Fossil Generating Plant (Erie Road, Eastlake, Oh, future assignments could be at any of the Fossil, Combustion Turbine & Hydro Plants. Responsibilities include: 1) Help provide construction cost estimates. 2) Work with the Project Engineer and the Supply Chain to formulate the construction contract and help in the bid / award process. 3) Assure that the contractor is following the company's safety practices. 4) Be at the plant full time as the project installation schedule warrants to act as the company's representative. 5) Be the single point of communication between the contractor and the plant and between the contractor and the design engineer. 6) Handle all facets of construction - receive material, assure construction follows specifications, arrange required inspections, handle change orders, monitor time charges and monitor and report on schedules. 7) Collect asbuilts and turn them in for final revision. 8) Supervise contractor demobilization after job completion. 9) During construction lulls, provide project engineering support at SEMC. Qualifications minimum of 5 years of construction / engineering experience. Candidate should have 8 to 12 years of construction / engineering experience. 5 years of construction / engineering experience
