Job Description:
 A financial services company seeks a Senior Developer (architect/develop application monitoring solutions) with 3-5 years’ relevant work experience (analysis, development, support). The candidate will lead projects to fill monitoring gaps, improve monitoring standards and implement system monitoring for newly integrated systems. Developing application monitoring solutions to ensure that production applications are functioning correctly and performing optimally. Responsible for system and application monitoring, including application instrumentation, system instrumentation and operational support of monitoring tools. Interface with computer operations and staff and with command center staff. Define and implement system monitoring standsards to meet customer availability requirements. Work with various system owners and operation support teams to monitor the health, availability and performance of an application. Implementation of company standard and custom monitoring jobs that aggregate data and correlates events into alerts and custom management dashboards. Monitoring audits, gap analysis and best practices. Provide monitoring solution to generate synthetic transactions, parse logs, monitor server hardware, and monitor networking hardware. Define and create the necessary tools to facilitate the collections of the defined metrics. Analyzes performance problems and recommends solutions to enhance functionality, reliability and/or usability. Create guidelines, processes and procedures to gather and report performance and capacity metrics for applications and supporting infrastructure. Stay current on emerging tools, techniques and technologies. The candidate should have Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in computer science or information technology (and/or equivalent experience). Requires 3-5 years’ experience: with SQL language (preferably MS SQL and Oracle); monitoring and analyzing performance and capacity; in client/server environments; in debugging and troubleshoooting applications and system in WAN/LAN environment. Experience with data collection and data analysis techniques required. Should have thorough understanding of and hands-on experience with one or more of the following monitoring products: NetIQ (Appmanager, Analysis Center); Mercury Interactive suite of Tools (SiteScope, BPM, BAC). Should have experience with at least 2 of the following applications: IBM/Micro Muse NetCool RAD or BMC product families or Concord Network Health or Remedy or Compaq Insight Manager or Troux.
