Job Description:
This individual will develop and implement strategies for securing financial support from this group as prospect manager. Responsibilities as prospect manager include identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts for the university from alumni, parents, and friends. This position also supervises a professional staff consisting of development associates who work with the major gift team. Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; Five or more years of experience in individual major gift fundraising, with a proven and consistent track record of raising $500K-$1M annually plus three or more years experience in training, mentoring, and leading professional staff to achieve the goals of the major gift team; Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising especially those focused on the personal solicitation. Experience with advising, educating, and coaching a team of professionals to achieve their goals in fundraising and project management. Ability to understand and interpret objectives of (and for) the individual giving group and recognize how those goals fit into a larger, integrated strategy for the Division of University Advancement. Ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and expand strategic advancement plans, particularly individual prospect strategies and other major gift processes and metrics. Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the university's fundraising priorities through developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, and other volunteers, and the university advancement team. In addition to these general skills, the position requires the ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: (1) to initiate contacts with prospects; (2) to develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers; (3) to move prospects in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) to make solicitations when appropriate; (5) to maintain stewardship contacts with donors. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on prospect strategies and prospect management. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required.
