Job Summary: We currently have an opening for a Legal Director, Business Development, in our Parsippany, New Jersey location. This position is responsible for providing legal counsel to Daiichi Sankyo’s Global Business Development department. The Legal Director, Business Development handles all legal aspects of licensing, co-promotion/co-development/co-marketing and acquisitions in the pharmaceutical field, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing such agreements. The Legal Director, Business Development will counsel U.S. and Tokyo based Business Development, and Licensing Departments, and other senior management by proactively identifying legal, business, and regulatory issues, and developing creative approaches to those issues. The position will also have responsibility for carrying out due diligence, Hart-Scott Rodino filings, and negotiating and drafting confidentiality agreements. Depending on the individual’s prior experience with patent matters, the Legal Director, You must have 8 or more years post-law school experience, including 5 years or more pharmaceutical industry experience, particularly in drafting and negotiating licensing, promotion and development deals, including global transactions. Relevant in-house corporate and/or non-litigation experience is preferred. Experience in patent prosecution or patent litigation is desirable, but not required. This position requires management skills, discretion, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent client relation skills. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office suite) is required.
