Job Description: Software Test Engineer Must have Experience in fault insertion testing of hardware, especially medical devices or laboratory equipment is necessary Reports to Sr. Director of Engineering JOB SUMMARY: Designs sophisticated software to validate system functionality, ensure performance and scale requirements, and prove reliability and resiliency to errors for microscope applications. Design and develop highly engineered sophisticated, error resilient test software. Develop a complete system to verify functionality, scalability and reliability. Provide creative ways to break the system under test using methods and techniques that are either not practical manually or too time consuming to reproduce for each product build. The person will demonstrate how testing of software will increase productivity, ensure quality and identify bugs that will be part of future software builds. This position requires a big picture understanding of the system behavior as a whole. You will be creating and implementing features to maximize performance and quality of the software. Also, you will be responsible for creating better ways of testing the software including test tools that may lead to automated testing. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Please list other (non-essential) job functions or responsibilities that you perform on an infrequent or intermittent basis EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Experience: 3 – 6 years in a software test environment, preferably with medical devices. Supervisory experience is a plus. Involvement in a full product development life cycle is a must. Software development in the areas of C++, C#, .NET, XML; preferred. Education: minimum BS in Computer Science, advanced degree preferred. CSTE (Certified Test Engineer) a plus. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Writing of test protocols, writing test matrix showing traceability to design requirements, managing bug tracking, conducting bug tracking meetings, testing of off-the-shelf software, software configuration management tools and writing test reports are necessary. Ability to write software requirements and specifications Ability to write test scripts and test cases Experience in fault insertion testing of hardware, especially medical devices or laboratory equipment is necessary. Automated test experience a plus with knowledge of available test suites and how they would fit in the software test process. Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for software development and validation a plus, but not required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision of a small group
