The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for coordinating and managing all necessary resources throughout the entire project from start-up through closeout, and for ensuring that both the Owner's expectations and budgetary guidelines are met. This involves:
* Managing the project from beginning to end including budget, cost unexpected events, general performance, and overall progress against plan
* Communicating necessary information to Field Supervision, subcontractors and vendors to assist them in working to the project schedule.
* Representing The Company to the owner(s), architects, consultants, government authorities, vendors and subcontractors
* Administering financial aspects of the owner's contract, subcontracts, and purchase orders
* Building effective working relationships with clients and The Companys project team members.
Candidate Qualifications:
In addition to all the cultural requirements necessary for success at The Companys (hard-working, takes initiative, sense of urgency, committed to excellence, self-motivated, self-confident, effective communication skills, capable of dealing with ambiguity and tight work oversight),
* Project Managers must have excellent business judgment demonstrated by consistently achieving profitability objectives and strong project close-outs with client relationships in good standing.
* The ideal PM candidate must also have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail evidenced by a strong command of all applicable contract and legal provisions.
* The PM needs to consistently analyze and execute financial trade-offs, which frequently involves dealing with incomplete data and ambiguity.
* The PM must also have the ability to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between The Company business needs, organizational issues, and sound customer relations. Good judgment is also a requirement of the PM position - the ideal PM candidate must know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command and he/she must have a strong sense of urgency and initiative, along with the ability to quickly study and react to complex issues.
* PMs have excellent problem-solving skills, along with the ability to confidently and decisively take action.
* PMs are also team players with excellent diplomatic and communication skills - the ideal candidate should be able to handle and resolve conflicts effectively in a firm but fair manner.
* PMs must have an undergraduate degree in applicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope. Each project has specific characteristics regarding size, complexity, sector etc, which dictate the precise years of experience and industry knowledge necessary for success, above and beyond generic construction knowledge and experience.
