Job Description:

This position is responsible for California Claims. Provides overall direction and guidance to the Claims Center to meet service standards and to assure adequate reserving practices and effective use of company assets. Provides strategic leadership to the Claims Center. Participates in objective setting, development of corporate policy, determination of authority limits, protocols, audit standards and other management controls/practices. Follows established trial reporting procedures, monitoring and evaluating trial progress and overall results. Develops and maintains good working relationships with other functions to ensure quality claims service. Settles claims with authorization of up to $500,000. Ensures high quality customer service is provided to policyholders and claimants. Delegates authority to staff based on corporate standards and expertise of staff. Refers claims exceeding the Director's authorization and those falling within corporate reporting requirements. Identifies staff training and development needs and assures training is provided.
