Job Description:
Our client is a building service design company who is looking to double in size over the next 2 years.
Job Responsibilities:
1) Set up and maintain design (‘B’ file) file
2) Perform heating and cooling load calculations (HAP and TAS)
3) Perform energy modeling (EE4 and TAS)
4) Handle HVAC, fire protection and plumbing schematic design layout along with final design (with minimal supervision)
5) Ensure company design checklist is followed
6) Ensure company AutoCAD standards are followed
7) Review/prepare final motor list
8) Prepare or confirm all equipment selections using company selection procedures
9) Coordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the Project Design Team (i.e. architects, structural consultants, electrical consultants, etc.)
10) Coordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies
11) Attend project progress meetings
12) Provide updates for Project Manager and/or PIC (including field reviews to monitor project construction status)
13) Attend field reviews/meetings with clients
14) Review/supervise drafting
15) Prepare/review markups
16) Assist with fee proposal preparation
17) Maintain client relations
Job Requirements:
1) BS in Mechanical Engineering
2) P. Engg. license
3) A.Sc.T. designation preferred
4) Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD experience
5) 5+ years of design experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
6) Ability to read architectural, structural, electrical drawings with minimal supervision
7) Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building and sprinkler codes (I.e. NFPA, BCBC, etc.)
8) Ability to perform accurate detailed site surveys
9) Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) both inside and outside the office
10) Proficient in coaching/teaching
11) Ability to ‘sketch’ ideas
12) Ability to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants
