The position monitors and assesses policyholder behavior along with capital market movements and is responsible for managing the companys hedging program, as well as proposing and implementing sound practices regarding risk management through reinsurance transactions or alternative capital market solutions. The position is responsible for overall knowledge of the business providing interpretation of treaty terms, determination of financial impacts and making recommendations to limit Company exposure or enhance overall profitability of the underlying books of business. The position supervises a staff of three and is responsible for maintaining critical valuation systems. The position focuses on analysis of underwriting results and determining the proper of level of reserves and capital to be held on the various lines of business: ABR, individual ordinary and group long-term disability. This work entails knowing and applying actuarial valuation standards under US GAAP, IFRS for consolidated reporting and regulatory reporting for all states where the Company conducts business, predominantly Delaware and New York. The position serves as the appointed actuary for the Company and is responsible for complying with various state requests. Working closely with the CFO, this position is responsible for assessment and filing of the regulatory capital requirements.
