Job Description:
Responsibilities & Qualifications: The selected candidate will be involved in the following: · Leadership in development, implementation, and review of technical network and security requirements · Planning the direction of the Center's network to meet application requirements and to budget, test, and plan equipment upgrades · Adaptation of networking and security controls as new computing or networking capabilities are implemented · Maximizing synergism between the central IT networking of ORNL and that of CCS Examples of specific activities include: · Coordination of various network outages and improvements with other High-Performance Computing Operation staff and ORNL IT network staff · Identification and diagnoses of network congestion, packet loss/corruption, and system malfunctions · Work with users to transfer data to and from remote sites · Maintaining and enhancing the network performance and health metric collection and monitoring · Analyze the performance and health metrics to proactively avoid future problems, fix current problems, and aid in capacity planning
