The Glendale facility has a 40 year heritage of designing, developing and manufacturing products for manned and unmanned space applications. Description: The Technical Manager of the Space Applications Software New Business Section will require a background in software systems engineering that covers the complete development lifecycle with an in-depth understanding of avionics hardware. The position involves the development and/or pursuit of new products for the Space market including but not limited to ISS, Space Shuttle, CEV/Orion, and other programs in Project Constellation. Experience in leading development teams is required. Candidates should have experience in the development of avionics with experience in the space market preferred. Primary Responsibilities include: Providing technical and administrative leadership of 8-12 engineers with administrative duties including performance appraisal, mentoring engineers in career advancement, and involvement in department planning activities. Position may require direct technical leadership of smaller development or study programs. Candidate must be process oriented and be willing to learn and follow prescribed CMMI development processes. Candidate must be willing to develop a broad knowledge of and enforce company policies, programs, and procedures. Position requires excellent people skills and ability to work effectively with other organizations and individuals at all levels from aides to upper management.
