Job Description:
The Smart Grid Project Manger develops and manages a high profile, multi-million dollar smart grid demonstration project. The incumbent of this position will build and manage a collaborative of key stakeholders such as USDOE, PNNL, select electric utilities and manufacturers. Through this collaborative, the incumbent will use a wide variety of electric demand-side, distribution and transmission tools, to explore, document and demonstrate means to increase reliability of the electric grid. This position requires a self-starter with solid project management, collaborative building and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will be able to take a vision and build a demonstration to achieve that vision. Duties for this position include: · In collaboration with both BPA staff and external organizations throughout the Northwest, develops vision for a Smart Grid demonstration project and sets collaborative strategies to plan and implement the demonstration. · Serves as direct liaison in initiating contact with prospective allies - arranges meetings with utility and other organizations to encourage and negotiate partnership agreements. · Serves as the project manager for the smart grid project - develops and implements workplans, develops and manages budgets, schedule and insures deliverables are met on time and on schedule. Conducts technical analysis as needed. Develops and leads the smart grid collaborative. · Serves as Agency expert on smart grid technologies and strategies and on the integration of demand-side management with grid operations. · Communicates Smart Grid program/project objectives and incentives to prospective allies. · Solicits and negotiates participation of key market players such as equipment and controls manufacturers.
