Job Description:


The Director of Procurement and Materials is charged to develop and implement an integrated purchasing strategy, to refine and standardize purchasing systems across the entire company. This will include development or refinement of procedures, identify opportunities to leverage group volumes, improve supplier management practices, and bring contemporary strategies for material acceleration. Key position in the Corporate Services Group, responsible for leading the sourcing and procurement function in a centralized/decentralized model across four operating units of the company. Manage, enhance and grow existing commodity management programs. Responsible for supplier selection, their performance, as well as, product and service availability throughout the enterprise. Lead negotiation efforts on purchase agreements and vendor contracts that result in quality, delivery, cost containment and process improvement. Manage and support corporate oversight for purchases across multiple expense categories and as well as driving purchasing and inventory synergies to achieve cost savings across the all operating units. Provide estimates of costs for new products, tooling, etc., as related to manufacturing, warehouse or R&D. Represent the department at planning and other regular management meetings to provide recommendations of continuous improvement to the operations business model. Participate in company programs designed toward improvement of personnel skills, on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, etc. Provide individual feedback to improve performance and initiate corrective action in response to personnel problems. Maintain historical database and identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize procurement efficiencies. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that support operational and control procedures to promote the efficient completion of department processes. Education: Masters degree in supply chain management or engineering preferred with courses in Business Administration beneficial. Graduate with similar experience required. Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Professionals (CPP), Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM), or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) preferred, but not required. Experience: 10 to 15 years progressive experience in procurement/materials management positions. Proven background in understanding and implementing Lean / Waste Free / Six Sigma disciplines. Building teams into a world class performance organization, with demonstrated results. This is a full time position.
