Job Summary: 24 hour accountability for the clinical, service, and financial outcomes of a designated patient care unit. Ensures the effective integration of support services into the unit-based care delivery process. Is a member of the Medical Center management team, and participates in hospital-wide initiatives as indicated, overall leadership for the Division of Patient Care Services, and advancement of the profession of nursing. Experience in clinical care of neurosurgery patients Qualifications Required: State of Michigan Registered Nurse licensure Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Experience in a leadership role 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse with competency at the expert level Analytical skills necessary to solve technical, clinical, administrative and managerial challenges Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to plan and develop training programs to promote development and growth of staff Must be able to manage a budget The ability to develop written policies and procedures and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors Must be effective in communicating with associates, patients, families, and professional staff The ability to see the whole of the organization and how the service of the unit fits into the broader perspective Must have an attitude of collaboration with peers, patients, staff, and physicians Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
