Job Description:


The primary purpose of this position is to lead the manufacturing engineering group for the Process Systems business unit. This individual will maintain managerial responsibility for manufacturing process design and support, product testing strategy; and traditional industrial engineering type functions. Lead efforts to design manufacturing processes consistent with lean manufacturing principles, utilizing methodologies such as Demand Flow Technology (DFT) Assess current manufacturing processes and make recommendations to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity Work closely with Operations and Purchasing teams to drive supply chain improvement initiatives and function as an active participant in the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) program. Initiate and manage improvement actions by leveraging such tools as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Design of Experiments (DOE), as appropriate. Address process and product problems in manufacturing with solutions that are cost effective and within current production capabilities both in-house and at key suppliers. Primary contact for production personnel to address these problems and acts as interface between Manufacturing and Engineering to solve product problems. Participate as a core team member of Product Development teams to ensure design for manufacturability and testability, and transition the design into manufacturing ensuring that documentation, tooling, and processes are in-place to produce a quality product. Interact with other departments, customers, and suppliers in order to research, gather and disseminate project critical information. Other duties as required Other Job Requirements: Both domestic and international travel required. Qualifications: Education: B.S. Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering; or Bachelors Degree in a technical field, with 10+ years of Manufacturing Experience. Masters Degree or Professional Engineering License, preferred. Experience/Skills: Candidate must have 5-10 years of practical LEAN manufacturing implementation experience in an electro-mechanical assembly environment. Must possess effective communication skills, especially related to delivering team-based employee training material. Must have demonstrated and practical Project Management skills, gained from a varying range of project scope and magnitude.
