Job Description:
Manages construction projects by administering project processes and procedures from estimating and preliminary planning phases through field construction and commissioning. Supervises construction support staff and field construction organization.
More specifically:
1) Observes construction work methods; assures personal and work method safety by construction crafts.
2) Coordinates collaborative work sequence planning with superintendents and staff; recommends efficient work sequences.
3) Anticipates upcoming constraints and issues with engineering and construction scope and plans accordingly.
4) Analyzes cost and construction performance reports; implements methods and work sequences to meet cost and schedule targets.
5) Consults with owner project management and engineering group leaders; collaborates to resolve significant constraints and engineering issues.
6) Develops and administers construction safety plan; assumes responsibility for compliance , performance and all results; informs owner representatives of deviations and issues; revises plans to restore compliance.
7) Develops and administers construction execution plan; assumes accountability for compliance, performance and all results; informs owner representatives of deviations and issues; revises plans to restore compliance.
8) Assures application and execution of accurate project controls methods; monitors field construction progress.
9) Reviews project quality processes and record keeping; reviews compliance with plans and procedures.
10) Reviews materials management methods, procedures and effectiveness; assigns roles and responsibilities to project team members; performs orientation and training for new team members; investigates delays or inaccuracies with invoicing and payment.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in Mechanical Projects in Coal-fired Power Plants, with accountability for controlling project outcomes. Must have demonstrated experience with Estimating and Proposal Development, managing other construction professionals and craft supervisors, safety planning and execution, project planning, development of rigging strategies, union labor experience preferred, on site management preferred, strength in project controls systems including: planning, scheduling and cost forecasting, and strong computer skills.
Project experience should include: boiler outages, coal handling equipment, precipitators, scrubbers, SCR's and associated duck work, structural steel erection, equipment setting, and routine maintenance and callout work.
Required Education:
BS degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management or related field.
