Job Description:

The Senior is assigned to oversee and manage the project providing engineering expertise and guidance in executing oversight responsibility for major construction projects. It is anticipated that the project duration will be 24 - 36 months. Upon completion the employee will be relocated to meet other project needs. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: reviews and analyzes contract plans and specifications and identifies problem areas or potential problems with planned construction activities and makes recommendations to resolve the problem; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate phasing portions of the project; reviews contractor cost breakdown and submittals on proposed equipment and materials; initiates lab testing of materials to assure compliance with contract specifications and takes a daily inventory of construction materials received and materials used; documents as built drawings; reviews contractor's submissions for payment such as contractor's payroll and materials costs and recommends approval or disapproval; maintains accurate and complete job files including as-built drawings and specifications; reads construction drawings against actual construction for conformity and code/contract compliance; prepares proposed change orders and supplemental agreements and briefs management on cost estimates and man-hour needs along with a recommended course of action; participates in updating the project information through the computer system and in certifying items for the processing of construction drawings; reads and interprets critical path method diagrams; coordinates planned disruptions to utility services; prepares notes and documents daily environmental conditions that may impact safety or cause progress delays; conducts and carries out inspections and participates in conducting final inspections; documents in writing the sufficiency or insufficiency of partial and completed workmanship; and documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials or techniques in the application of materials, sub standard or poor quality workmanship.
