Ability to perform basic operating system functions such as: creating directories, zip/unzip files, tar/untar files, utilize the VI editor to create files, etc. so that files can be compressed and moved from device to device for backup, troubleshooting and space management.Working knowledge of TCP/IP/UDP protocols for troubleshooting network connectivity issues. Basic conceptual knowledge of IP address space management and subnetting, specifically for IPV4. IPv6, is a plus.Ability to effectively monitor and interpret Micromse NetCool, HP Openview or other alarms/trap software.Ability to utilize the image control tool in order to upgrade/downgrade Cable Modem Firmware and validate maintenance activities.Knowledge and troubleshooting of provisioning architecture including DOCSIS/DHCP/DNS/RDU. This includes: oFunctional flows between RDU/DPE/DHCP/DDNSoDOCSIS processes following a new Cable Modem connect to the HSD networkAbility to explain functional flow of a new install and be able to quickly pinpoint and troubleshoot issues if they occur. This includes troubleshooting Voice over IP and associated CPE devices.. Ability to develop or assist in the development of systems, methods or procedures to improve or provide consistent operational activity.Experience with UNIX shell scripting, Java and/or Perl in order to operate or write scripts to quickly deploy bootfile upgrades.
