Job Description:
The Software Engineering Department is responsible for application software, embedded software, device drivers and other development as required. Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for leading, planning, and directing the Software Engineering team Drive the team to develop new and improved software development processes, incorporating best practices and methods. Work as a member of a cross-functional team of managers from electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial design, and product management, to coordinate engineering activities and confirm project objectives, specifications, costs and schedules Interfacing with the user(s) and sponsor(s) and all other stakeholders in order to determine their (evolving) needs. Participate in cross-functional teams to assign projects to appropriate personnel Collaborate on a national and global scale with other Engineering Managers to ensure project alignment and improve Software development practices and productivity across the company. Prepare reports on Software Engineering Department status, productivity and initiatives Monitor overall operation of Software engineering department for timeliness, accuracy, quality and completeness of results, and provide support and/or disciplinary action as required Responsible for recruitment and career development of software engineering staff Research work for upcoming projects Maintain advanced understanding of relevant technology & specifications.
