Job Description:
This position is the technical counterpart to the Project/Program Manager and reports to the Manager of UAV Development. The emphasis in this position is on UAV system design and technical decision-making. In this role, you will: Design a UAV system at the block diagram level. Write or approve the requirements for all elements of the subsystem Provide technical guidance to the IPT leads and lead all cross-element trade studies. Manage all system-level allocatables, such as mass, electrical power, and bandwidth. Design and own all system-level interfaces and their controlling documents. Track technical performance measures as well as key performance parameters. Establish and enforce guidelines for how engineering is to be done on the program. Write the SEMP and the TEMP. Manage the system-level requirements and flow them down in a traceable fashion to the elements. Design and direct all program verification and validation tasks. Assist the Project Manager by estimating task duration and phasing, decomposition of complex tasks, and providing status updates to management and customers. Additionally, the Chief Engineer is responsible for: Delivery of flight worthy to customer expectations Design and drawing reviews, sign-off and release Design change control board member High-quality technical designs and operating in an quality system environment Assurance of reliability, producibility, etc. in design for production readiness Support and guide supplier selection and development as required Requirements 10 or more years of experience in the aerospace industry in a design capacity with extensive familiarity in aircraft development. An exceptional ability to communicate both in writing and verbally to a wide range of audiences.
