Job Description:
Direct project management activities, have responsibility for department projects and insures the adequacy of all project planning, tracking and reporting. * Plans, organizes and coordinates resources to accomplish project objectives as determined by approved planning. * Responsible for the investigation, justification and implementation of productivity increases and cost improvement programs through recommendation of product design changes, more efficient production methods and capital equipment purchases and developments. * Interacts with executives and equivalent level directors concerning matters of significance to Medtronic. Principal liaison with Research and Development and Marketing, as well as other departments in the Operation Division, to provide or secure information, coordinate activities or solve problems. * Works with the Director of Operation and other department managers on the prioritization of production, floor and/or quality issues. Determines and communicates root causes and implements solutions. * Serves as an interdepartmental liaison in problem investigation and solving and expedites the accurate and timely transfer of required information. * Directs the development and administration of the Department and Company short and long range engineering plans and programs, (e.g., expense budget, capital budget, floor plans, etc.) and in the implementation of new manufacturing concepts. * Works with department personnel and the MIS Department in determining the computer equipment and software needed to be productive and complete assignments. * Travel as required for company business transactions. Amount of travel could be extensive at times. Could include, but not limited to, visits to Memphis for meetings with Marketing, Sales and Research and Development, visits to other Medtronic facilities, visits to equipment suppliers and implant/instrument suppliers and training classes or seminars. * Direct, Develops and implements individual training programs for existing and new department personnel.
