RESEARCH SCIENTIST SUPERVISOR I(EPIDEMIOLOGY/BIOSTATISTICS): Describing the cases in the outbreak or epidemic according to the variables of time, place and person; identifying the source of the agent and its mode of transmission, including the specific vehicles, vectors and routes that may have been involved; Identifying susceptible populations that are at an increased risk of exposure to the agent; Implementing control measures, (i. e. source case, infection, means agent is transmitted, who are at risk of exposures); Providing reports (i. e. circumstances leading to investigation, background and methods of investigation); Providing analysis of the data and outcomes in a final outbreak report; and Communicating findings to CDCR and appropriate state and local public health agencies. Manage and direct staff in the Epidemiology and Surveillance Program who are responsible for compiling required surveillance reports received from each institution, performing analysis, and preparing summary reports about key public health diseases and conditions. Develop policy and program recommendations based on surveillance findings using public health research techniques. Develop statewide disease surveillance programs, identify trends, and provide accurate and timely information to the DCHCS, CDCR and local and state health departments. These studies will be used to advance the science of disease in correctional settings and by policy makers to determine program direction, evaluation, and quality. They will be the foundation of a quality management program for public health and infectious disease. Developing, implementing and evaluating policies and procedures that assure confidential health information conforms to HIPAA requirements, state law, and are kept on a confidential need-to-know basis. Providing technical assistance to institutional staff in preparing reports and will provide both aggregate institutional data and statewide data reports that do not use inmate-identifier information.
