Job Description:
Our client, who provides one of the leading metasearch sites on the web, is looking for a Network Engineer to join their team. This is a contract to perm opportunity and successful candidates will have at least three years of experience with network design, implementation and support in a large IP network of routers, switches, load-balancers, firewalls, and IDS/IPS hardware. Essential Job Duties
* Design, implement and support Internet and Enterprise networks worldwide
* Provide final tier network support for all production services – network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, design and implementation of long term solutions
* Performance and capacity planning: audit, monitor, analyze and reconfigure network environments for performance improvements and future scalability
* Work closely with systems engineering and developers providing network support and consulting expertise
* Participate in scheduled maintenance during non-peak hours
* Document and adhere to network engineering processes and procedures regarding network release planning, testing, implementation, documentation and support (redundancy, disaster recovery, high availability)
* Communicate clearly to business and technical groups within the company
* Facilitate the planning of network hardware and software upgrades.
* Enforce network security policies and procedures
* Provide network administration decisions for services and systems

Job Requirements:
* 3-5 years experience with network design, implementation and support in a large IP network of routers, switches, load-balancers, firewalls, and IDS/IPS hardware
* Solid knowledge of IP routing and routing protocols (OSPF and other IGP, BGP)
* Solid knowledge of LAN switching in an Ethernet network and WAN transport protocols (STP, VTP, HSRP, VRRP, Frame-Relay, ATM, PRI)
* Firm understanding of ACLs and network-based VPN
* Load-balancing and firewall experience (Nokia, Netscreen, CheckPoint, BigIP and 3DNS experience a plus)
* Experience with network management platforms and protocols such as SNMP and RMON
* Experience in developing and maintaining management scripts a plus (perl, bash/zsh/ksh, tcl/tk, etc.)
* Ability to drive towards and achieve positive results on schedule in a fast paced environment required
* Must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills
* Must be a results-driven, self-directed worker with good team collaboration skills
* Participate in a shared on-call schedule
* BS/BEng (mathematics, physical sciences, engineering) or equivalent experience required.
