Job Description:
We are seeking Director of Special Education The Director of Special Education will be developed as a leader in our exciting environment of school reform in New Orleans. Sci Academy offers a culture of warmth and support, small class sizes, collaborative teacher development, and academic services beyond the school day and into the summer. We are the only charter high school asked by the state to open, giving us a mandate to provide a model school for our city, its long-suffering schools, and its children. If you believe in what we can achieve, we hope you'll join our team. The Founding Director of Special Education is required to combine teaching responsibilities with administration, diagnosis, and staff development that supports the high achievement of our students with special needs. In addition, this individual is responsible for visioning and building the special education program that will take our school through the years. We are hiring a Director of Special Education for our first year in 2008-2009, when we will begin the school with 75-90 ninth graders Additional Qualifications: Certification in Special Education from any state.
