Job Description:
Licensed Practical Nurse, Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program responsible to the Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse and / or Medical Provider for provision of care to patients in the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program. The LPN demonstrates independent technical judgment with minimal supervision, as well as maintains a comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of the most complex and difficult practices and procedures.The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) is a two campus, comprehensive Health Care System that provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient health care services. U. S. Citizenship Current, full, active, unrestricted License Must pass pre-employment physical Education Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required. Background and/or Security Investigation required. The LPN possesses the ability to observe more subtle physical and emotional changes in patients and demonstrates taking appropriate action(s) based on those observations. The LPN accurately and thoroughly documents observations, care delivered and the patient's response to care that could require immediate modification of the patient's care plan. The LPN appropriately seeks assistance and guidance by informing RN or MD/DO of changes in patient's condition requiring higher-level intervention. The incumbent possesses the ability to proactively assist the RN or MD/DO in addressing patient's needs for medication/treatments; accurately administer prescribed medications/treatments according to established policies/procedures; and appropriately records administration and patient's response to medications/treatments received. Qualifications: 1. US Citizenship. 2. Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or National League of Nursing at the time the program was completed by the applicant. 3. Current, full, active and unrestricted licensure as a license practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia. Original license must be cited prior to appointment. 4. Applicant must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination, prior to placement, will be required. 5. LPNs appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.6. BLS required for all areas (submit copy of certification with application). 7. One (1) year of experience preferred.
