Associate Chief of Nursing (Mental Health)Salary Range: 0.00 - 0.00 Experience in a complex organization is highly desirable. Utilizes the nursing process in the management of client care, organizational process and/or systems, improving outcomes at the program or service level. Leads and directs staff to assure access to and continuity of care while systematically improving outcomes for the mentally ill client. Incumbent has the responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining a comprehensive Mental Health program, ensuring compliance with VHA Directives, Joint Commission standards and other review and regulatory standards. The successful candidate is responsible for initiating and participating in interdisciplinary projects and committees with the aim of improving outcomes in the management of complex patient care or the systems and process of the organization/service. Experience in a complex organization is highly desirable. Utilizes the nursing process in the management of client care, improving outcomes at the program or service level. Leads and directs staff to assure access to and continuity of care while systematically improving outcomes for the mentally ill client. Incorporates knowledge of appropriate care to veterans 18 thru the geriatric years, including all diagnoses found in adults (18-65 years) and older adults (66 years and up). Functions as an expert consultant I professional practice. Uses advanced clinical and administrative knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in implementing and evaluating interventions that will affect outcomes of the mentally ill. Involves the interdisciplinary team in initiating and implementing Nursing Service and Organizational Programs that promote the achievement of the Director's performance measures.Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically we would find this experience in work within this field or a field that is closely related. Applicants must meet the basic qualification requirements for registered nurse as required in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, for citizenship, education, licensure, etc. Applicants must have a master's degree in nursing or a related field with BSN and at least five years of successful nursing practice that demonstrates a high level of administrative and leadership skill. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center CNOR and Nursing Administration Advanced is preferred.
