Job Description:
Responsibility encompasses one or more shifts. Primary impact on an indeterminate share of manufacturing cost dollars. Ensures production schedules are met and quality standards are achieved in assigned areas of responsibility. Supervises the activities of hourly employees performing production operations in the machine, assembly or test departments. Plans detailed departmental activities, maintains full work load for employees, and assures proper use of work methods. Works closely with supervisory personnel of other departments to resolve problems, clarify procedures, expedite and facilitate work, etc. Provides for emergencies such as breakdowns, rush jobs and makes necessary adjustments to work schedule. Ensures products are fabricated according to quality specifications to assures quality and reliability.Use manpower and materials efficiently, work to attain highest possible productivity and ensure the least possible scrap and rework. Verifies material shortages, machine or equipment defects or breakdowns, and other causes of delay. Initiates and follows up on necessary corrective action.Investigates and suggests improvements and assume responsibility to keep equipment operating; work areas productive and promote safety objectives. Assists the Team Leads, the Operations Manager and the Plant Manager to establish and revise: work methods and procedures, manpower requirements, budget, etc. Coaches and develops the teams\' technical and problem solving and continuous improvement skills. Selects, promotes, transfers and otherwise treats all employees equitably without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin or age, in accordance with all local, state and federal Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plan regulations.KNOW HOW:1. Knowledge of machining, assembly or testing operations and equipment gained through practical experience.2. Thorough knowledge of work methods, standards and capacities in planning detailed activities, and maintaining efficiency, flexibility and safety of work force.3. General understanding of working with represented employees and labor agreements.4. Human relations skills and the ability to address and resolve complaints and problems; establish and maintain effective relationships across the teams.PROBLEM SOLVING:Plan, organize, supervise and coordinate activities to meet schedule, cost and quality goals.
