Job Description:
Seeking a Chemist with 2-5 experience in peptide or organic synthesis for a
biochemical company located in Torrance, CA.
In this position, your job title will be Chemist I or Chemist II, depending upon your previous experience and educational background.
JOB FUNCTION:
The Research Chemist will be responsible for the development and
manufacturing of active peptide ingredients under GMP conditions as well as
the development and manufacturing of non-GMP grade peptides. You will
conduct synthesis, purification, isolation, and in-process analysis with
minimal supervision, and will coordinate scheduled work with other
departments. You will also write reports, present results and
make research proposals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Independently perform peptide synthesis, cleavage, purification, and
isolation.
Run the necessary in-process analytical controls.
Comply with SOP's and cGMP in all aspects of work.
Keep accurate records of all aspects of work performed.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform some equipment service and maintenance.
Ability to perform heavy lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Contribute and work on multiple projects if necessary.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
Train and mentor new research employees.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Masters degree in Chemistry or Bachelors' degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry
or equivalent combined with prior relevant experience. Good English skills,
both oral and written.
SKILLS:
Working knowledge of peptide chemistry techniques.
Understanding of the fundamentals of organic chemistry.
Experience in peptide synthesis, purification, isolation, and analysis.
Efficient and safe laboratory practice.
Dedicated, hardworking, responsible and organized.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Knowledgeable with laboratory instrumentation.
