Communicate a vision for the group and establish the behaviors within the group to ensure delivery of the mission. Facilitate drug delivery of Cancer and Infection projects. Contribute to leadership of Cancer and Infection Research areas. Lead the development of a research strategy and advise senior management on the feasibility of the strategy and project portfolio advancement. Manage and lead a growing team Recruit, attract and maintain a high-caliber staff; Develop and mentor them as a team of scientists (PhD and BS/MS).Establish and maintain processes by which new technology opportunities can be identified and assessed; Propose each year a resource plan and budget. Strong experience in managing PhD and BS/MS research teams in industry at a senior level. A thorough understanding of what it takes for a drug candidate to advance through the discovery process and into development. Experience in anti-infectives and oncology projects a strong plus. A practical understanding of all areas, including computational, in vitro screening and pharmacokinetics. Demonstrated success in delivering drugs by having hands-on experience in advancing a candidate into the clinic. Project experience with an ability to influence decision-making at the portfolio level. An understanding of clinical drug profiles and the ability to effectively communicate requirements to discovery and development teams. Experience interacting and influencing diverse groups and disciplines across the organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated scientific creativity and technical leadership with a focus on team building and mentorship. Accepts accountability for results and champions the goals and achievements.
