Job Description:
This will include mining public databases for gene expression data, identifying new public data resources for integration into platforms, and analyzing genes for relevant associations. The position will also require interaction with a scientific team for enhancing existing internal databases and portals, including interaction with an IT manager. Experience in administrating and troubleshooting Unix/Linux servers and clusters, Sun GridEngine, LIMS, Oracle databases and application servers is essential. Knowledge of web interface application development, programming with Java, Perl, Shell and other languages, as well as informatics solutions including HTML/XML, SOA, SOAP, OO design and web portal is desired. Candidate consideration requires a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in life sciences or related field and 3 years experience in industry, supporting a biopharmaceutical research organization. Successful applicants will have strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, independent and demonstrate leadership skills.
