DESCRIPTION The Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Director of Research and Faculty Innovation leads campus efforts in setting policies, defining standards, and enabling excellence in graduate programs (in concert with the Graduate Council), faculty and student research, and faculty development. The Dean is responsible for the coordination and/or supervision of all graduate students' applications, admission, registration, academic records, and certification for graduation; review and evaluation of existing graduate programs; planning and development of new graduate programs; appointment, performance, and evaluation of graduate assistants and graduate teaching assistants; and advisement of graduate students. The Dean is responsible for the recruitment of graduate students; coordination and promotion of faculty and student research; oversight of the office of Sponsored Programs, including administration of sponsored project grants and contracts; and oversight of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research. QUALIFICATIONS Earned doctorate and eligibility for graduate faculty status and senior rank required; significant experience in the development and management of graduate programs at the master's and professional level; successful administrative experience, preferably in a graduate school working primarily with master's candidates; successful grant writing and management experience; ability to work cooperatively with faculty and administrators in a variety of disciplines; to deal innovatively with governmental agencies, business, and industry; successful experience in obtaining funding for sponsored projects and graduate programs; and creativity and vision for graduate education are highly desirable.
