Job Description:
Position Summary
This is a Senior Engineering position within the Network Engineering group reporting to the Director of Network and Service Analysis. The Network and Service Analysis group has responsibility for pro-active analysis of our client¡¦s nationwide IP network and all the services provided. The programmer will play a lead role in designing and developing network configuration audit tests. The programmer will also manage the configuration retrieval system and associated maintenance necessary to ensure valid configuration data is used to develop audit criteria.
Main Responsibilities
„Ò Utilize programming, database, and general router skills to develop engineering auditing tools in support of the IP network.
„Ò Areas of development may include automation, device/service auditing, analysis & reporting GUI development, and data manipulation necessary to draw trends and conclusions from network data.
„Ò Participate in the software tool development lifecycle including specification, design, implementation, testing and documentation.
„Ò Maintain and enhance existing software applications based on new requirement and customer feedback.
„Ò Evaluate, recommend and adopt new technologies, tools and libraries.
„Ò Work independently and provide clear documented status of work activities and business issues that impact the department.
„Ò Provide technical tier 5 support during the rollout of new products / services as required.
„Ò Participate on interdepartmental teams to support organizational goals.
„Ò Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or a related programming field. Advanced degree preferred. The equivalent in related work experience and self study may be substituted.
Experience:
„Ò Minimum of 10 years of directly related engineering experience.
„Ò Minimum of five years experience in software development.
„Ò Experience in XML, SOAP, web services related technologies (Schema, XPath, XQuery, and XSLT etc.) is required.
„Ò Experience with ODBC/JDBCs to various relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.) is required
„Ò GUI/Chart development and design
„Ò Development in Perl, PHP, and various shells is required.
„Ò Familiarity with Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and various Linux distributions from a programming/user perspective is required.
„Ò Knowledge of Juniper and Cisco Router APIs a plus.
„Ò Experience in Java and Object Orientated software design and development is a plus.
„Ò Experience in web-based systems and client-server development is a plus.
„Ò General knowledge of Cisco IOS/XR and Juniper router configs a plus.
„Ò Knowledge of network transmission at all 7 layers of the OSI model and 4 layers of the TCP/IP model is a plus.
„Ò Creative, self-motivated team player.
„Ò Demonstrated initiative to initiate and build relationships both internally and externally.
„Ò Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
