Job Description: Job Responsibilities: Responsible for understanding new product architecture and requirements with SI&T and JVs. Responsible for the methodical planning of detailed End-to-end testing efforts on all new and existing Products and Services. End-to-End testing is performed to help ensure products and services are ready for production and ensure compliance as outlined by the BU, SI&T, JVs and Engineering teams as well as to pursue a zero defect customer experience.
Major Duties: Work with upstream Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams in the definition of a test plan, test cases, and test report within specified timelines. Interfacing with vendors and JVs on establishing deliveries, documentation, quality and entrance criteria for products. Good resulting documentation and metrics with goals toward reducing test intervals and improving quality. Providing direction to junior testers. Support peer video solutions and content testing efforts. Work with CM and Lab Ops to ensure testbed readiness in advance of testing efforts. Up to 10% potential travel. Carry a pager or cell phone 24x7. Perform other duties as assigned. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Job Requirements: Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, electrical Engineering or related field. The equivalent in directly related experience and self study may be substituted. Preferably, 3 - 5 years of experience in the cable industry field, or in another technical field
EXPERIENCE: VOD Experience SeaChange, Tandberg, etc. Video Transport Technologies Familiarity with Mediaclusters and Axiom Command Centers Cable Labs DOCSIS, VOD, and OpenCable Standards CMTS Arris C4, Cisco VXR, Motorola BSR Settop Boxes Motorola, SA, Pace, Panasonic, etc. Cable Card. Enhanced Programming Guide. Familiarity with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures are desired, such as Testing or a Product QA environment. Work experience in Cable or an Engineering related field is also desirable. Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio. Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment. SA DNCS & Motorola DAC / Headend Experience are a plus Working knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco routers, Load Balancers, SAN and NAS disk arrays, testing tools such as IXIA, HP Quality Center, WinRunner/QTP, and LoadRunner, and a basic understanding of Scripting, SQL databases, C++ and/or Java programming languages is a plus. Experience with large scale IP network and/or ISP are a plus.
