Job Description:
A world leader in transportation security is looking for a Sr. Field Service Technician for it's NJ location.

The Senior Field Service Technician:
• Consistently uses extensive experience and reasoning to plan and accomplish goals.
• Determines and recommends which products or services best fit the customers' needs.
• Looks for common-mode problem occurrences and seeks to resolve, both independently and with the aid of others.
• Troubleshoots, services, installs (deploys) and repairs both Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment at customer sites.
• Maintains field service log and filing system to properly initiate, organize and maintain all field service and job files until work is completed.
• When not on travel, individual provides assistance to the technical support staff.
• Conducts follow-up calls with the customer to check system status.
• Meets daily service repair needs and drives customer satisfaction.
• Installs repairs and maintains equipment in the field.
• Provides customer training as required.
• Documents all inspections, maintenance, repair work and submits paperwork in a timely basis.
• Orders, installs, and returns parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
• Reviews all logs for open issues and prepares formal reports to customers as necessary.
• Participates in service sales opportunities and assists with promoting and implementing revenue programs.
• Ensures that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
• Assesses product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.
• Seeks to provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required.
• May participate in site surveys, pilot program service activities, attend meetings, champion special projects and prepare exclusive reports.
• Seeks to lead and coach junior technicians with their technical issues, and help to resolve them.
• Establishes and maintains a close relationship with Product Managers in order to support the needs of the customer and remain aware of current technical trends.
• Maintains a customer-centric focus and is well versed at addressing potential volatile situations.
• Exercises every available measure to control and minimize costs.
• Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies, as well as all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
• May supervise the work of junior-level technical staff and/or lead projects as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements:
• Associate’s degree or 5 years of equivalent experience required.
• Experience working with chemistry products or chemical detection systems should be highlighted, as these will give you an advantage.
• Experience working with IMS (Ion Mobility Spectroscopy) or any similar technology would be right on point and Homeland Security experience should be emphasized.
• Computer literacy, including competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
• A strong electronic technical problem-solving mentality and exceptional product knowledge.
• An advanced level of technical knowledge on the company’s products.
• The skill and flexibility to be able to switch from one product to another as needed.
• Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required. Must have own credit card and be willing and able to travel at short notice.
• Must be willing to work on special projects, some of high visibility, as assigned.
