Technical Skills Required:
Required knowledge for computer operators includes: IBM MVS/ESA operator commands and operating procedures, including startup, shutdown, and job and device control; DEC VMS system startup and shutdown commands; Sun Solaris Unix system startup, shutdown, file system commands; and SPADOC and SDS mission environment operating procedures. These include a subset of the SPADOC-specific Real Time Executive-Extended (RTX-E) commands used for mission startup, shutdown, reconfiguration, and SPADOC-specific device control.
Responsibilities:
Computer operators perform the day-to-day operation of the SPADOC and SDS computer systems. These duties include Startup and shutdown of the IBM Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS)/Enterprise System Architecture (ESA) operating system; Startup and shutdown of the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) Virtual Memory System (VMS) operating system; Startup and shutdown of the Sun operating system; Startup, shutdown, and reconfiguration of the SPADOC mission environments; Startup, shutdown and reconfiguration of the SDS mission environment; Monitoring of computers and peripherals during operations; Monitoring of the SPADOC and SDS networks; and Routine “housekeeping” tasks, such as collection of recording logs.
