Job Description:
Develops practical methods for district office personnel to accomplish program goals by analyzing office staff requirements, identifying training, computer resources and working procedures. Provides policy guidance and direction to subordinate claims examiners for resolving novel or precedent setting issues by considering the level of difficulty of the assignments. Responsible for assuring the equal employment opportunity goals and policies are met within the unit. Assists and advises the district director with planning, policy matters, overall administration, and especially problem cases and major projects and problems which may arise. Identifies training needs and develops training plans for the unit staff. Recommends personnel actions of subordinate staff. Ensures the inegrity of claims-related data in the automated system, such as designated codes which reflect case conditions, date of adjudication, etc. Develops and enforces necessary procedures to ensure the data is current and accurate. Performs special assignments as required. Qualifications: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must possess experience which provided candidate with the knowledges and experience required to develop, examine, investigate, adjudicate, or authorize claims for disability and death compensation.
