Responsibilities: Develops and prepares a variety of written material, such as articles, briefings, articles for bulletins, audio-visual presentations, and other materials for distribution and presentation to the regional media and to various organizations. Researches books, pamphlets, magazines, for reference material used in informational releases. Regularly reviews and evaluates items of media coverage of Corps activities to ascertain the effectiveness of the PA program. Independently plans, prepares, and executes preparation of various informational products using desk-top publishing. Manages the audiovisual requirements in the District Executive Conference Room and coordinates assistance to District Command Group requiring audio-visual equipment and support. Answers requests for information form the media and public from a variety of sources to include telephonic, email, written and in person. Determines appropriateness of material for media release and forwards same for usage. Requirements: GS-09 1 year of experience directly related to the occupation equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, or equivalent combinations of experience and education. 1 year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that involved developing informational materials in support of the public relations, command information, media relations and public involvement programs. Knowledge of the principles and methods of mass communication media. Skill in applying principles and using methods in conducting an information program providing employees and the media with relevant news and necessary information. Ability to develop materials conveying complex information for dissemination through the media.
