Job Description:
Will work in a heavy machining environment. Some of the responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic commodity plans, manage inventory, and support strategic initiatives.
- Manage the internal production planning and materials system and ensure both production and customer needs are met.
- Develop and ensure that production planning, materials, purchasing, and customer service related metrics are maintained.
- Ensure required communication between customer service, production planning, purchasing and production department are maintained to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels. Balance resource capacity to workload based on the implementation of efficient practices.
- Continually look for ways to improve methods and documentation for functional business processes.
- Identify, analyze, assess, define and prioritize key projects, metrics and goals to support company objectives.
- Drive improvement in on-time delivery and reduction in inventory through the implementation of world-class materials management processes.
Reduce price of purchased materials, inventory levels and freight costs. Set and drive purchase price reduction and surcharge goals.
Ensure internal compliance with quality system requirements.
- As needed, use system tools to drive continuous process improvements in on-time delivery, cost savings, inventory reduction.
- Will report to the VP of Operations
Job Requirements:
7+ years of related materials and purchasing experience. At least three years in a management position with at least three direct reports. Related manufacturing experience required. Three years production planning experience. Desired experience in Lean manufacturing. Demonstrated knowledge and application experience in continuous improvement.
Related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/education. Continuous improvement training. Strong knowledge of MRP systems.
Good communication skills. Self-directed/takes initiative. Flexible. Leadership abilities. Customer Service oriented work ethic.
