A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field or minimum four years in working with adolescents or pregnant females in a residential setting and providing crisis services to youth and their families. Primary duty is to maintain a climate conducive to positive, safe, cohesive and congenial group living. The Residential Counselor is responsible for conducting Intake Interviews, client supervision and crisis counseling, Phone coverage, including answering and responding to incoming crisis (for maternity home residents and/or potential clients), business, informational, and referral calls. The Residential Counselor is a teacher, role model, advocate, and listener while coordinating the clients' medical, nutritional, fitness and prenatal services. S/he must work in conjunction with the social work staff to organize treatment goals focusing on clients' medical, social, vocational, educational and therapeutic needs. S/he will provide individual counseling and social services for residents and also conduct family counseling and peer interventions. The Residential Counselor is responsible for providing primary house coverage which includes responding to a 24-hour crisis and referral phone line. In addition, they are responsible for attending staff and Residential Counselors' meetings, client reviews, supervision, trainings, etc.
